Plain English is delighted to invite tastemaker Amanda Brooks, founder of the lifestyle brand Cutter Brooks, to host this year’s Christmas pop-up shop at its Pimlico Road showroom, open from Wednesday 13 November to Saturday 16 November.

Opening hours Wednesday (Pimlico Road late night shopping) 5pm to 8pm, Thursday and Friday 10am to 5.30pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm. Amanda will be there to meet customers on the opening and final day.

Inspired by 25 years of visiting and living in the English countryside, native New Yorker Amanda Brooks designs an eponymous brand of homewares and fashion and also curates a considered assortment from independent makers and niche labels. Her approach to Christmas decorating is a charming and joyous melange of English tradition and American nostalgia.

The one-time Barneys fashion director brings her discerning eye to gifts for your “closet, your home, and your hostess.” From festive homewares and timeless fashion, hand-painted decorations and blown-glass ornaments, to classic personal pieces sourced from her travels, Plain English will feel like her country home at Christmas.

Check out the beautifully crafted quilted kantha jackets, accessories, pet beds and holiday stockings made in the Cotswolds from vintage quilts hand-picked by Amanda in India or the woven straw baskets straight from a Saint-Rémy ma ket. Each is one-of-a -kind. Decorations range from ornaments made in third-generation factories to papier maché Santa’s with just the right amount of kitsch, taken from original 1930s moulds.

Amanda’s curated Christmas wardrobe includes Ayla Fair Isle knits, plush Velvet trouser suits, lace party dresses and satin trousers from a coterie of her go-to designers such as Doen, Bella Freud, Harris Wharf London and Sea New York.

Expect a cornucopia of lovely things.
